Little Moneybags
I have another post cooking but I gotta get this idea down. You ever played a Golden Axe game? Pretty fuckin' mid, right? Streets of Rage 2 clears. But it's not all mid, because it has a quintessential (possibly first?) incarnation of one of my favorite types of video game enemies: The Little Guy With a Big Sack of Gold That's Really Fucking Hard to Hit but Drops Gold Every Time You Do. Let's call them Little Moneybags' for short.

These guys rule, and I think we should put them as a random encounter in Every Dungeon. Fuck context, fuck verisimilitude, put them in Every Dungeon.
Here's an abbreviated lore block:
Little Moneybags
Uncommon. Harmless. Silly Gremlin. Delights in seeing an adventurer harmed. Far too scared to do harm on its own.
- Carries an overflowing sack of gold that seems to attract blades and arrows like a magnet.
- Impossibly quick, but relishes in the chase
Experienced adventurers know never to chase a Moneybags. No matter how hapless they may seem, pursuit always seems to lead into the maw of danger. The secrets of its wealth remains undiscovered, as the Moneybags has never been caught.
I'm sure you can already see how this would ignite certain players. Mechanically, I think the key to the Moneybags is that the prize has to be good enough if you survive. A neat trick would be to have it drop gold or silver pieces equal to the damage it's been dealt. Players should only get one chance to strike at the Moneybags before it runs off into another room.
Hope you enjoy! I'll have my three works of media and three blog shoutouts in my bigger, better next post; or should I do a newsletter instead?
